TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I’ve always been driven to teach myself things that I am interested in. However, I know not everyone learns best the way that I do. I try use my passion for the subjects I teach to inspire students to dig deeper into the topic with whatever mechanism they find works. I create resources to summarize how I see the material and encourage students to improve them with their insights. By admitting that my notes might have missed something and encouraging the students to add to them, I humanize failure and imposter syndrome for my students. This helps us create a safe environment where we can admit our weaknesses and work with them.
My research mentors have been influential teachers in my life. I try to learn from everyone I interact with in the lab and on campus.
